About AICAR
AICAR (5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide) is a nucleoside analogue that is taken up by cells and phosphorylated to ZMP, an AMP mimetic that activates AMP-activated protein kinase. It is a long-standing tool compound for studying AMPK-dependent metabolic signalling. Supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed vial, for laboratory research only.
